What to expect during the Mermaid Portfolio Vacation in Thailand?
Our number one priority during this Mermaid Portfolio Vacation is for everyone to have an unforgettable magical experience. You will not only learn new techniques, but also expand your portfolio with breathtaking underwater photos. We will offer several teaching sessions throughout the week such as mermaid school and underwater modelling training. Furthermore, Mermaid Kat will share her experiences from working as an underwater stunt woman and encounters with marine life such as sharks and crocodiles. In addition, you will have an unforgettable time in the open sea and get to know the Thai culture. Although we will spend plenty of time in the water, we also have planned activities on land. All aspects of this retreat were designed to nourish your body, mind and soul. Below is a rough schedule for our mermaid camp. Please note, however, that there may be small deviations and changes.
Day 1 (Saturday):
Check-in at the Palm Garden Resort in Chalong, in the south of Phuket. After the round of introductions and a general briefing, you have time to get to know the other participants and to explore the resort and the surrounding area. There may be a small practice session in the evening where we practice relaxation and breath-holding techniques.
Day 2 (Sunday):
After breakfast our first photo shoot takes place. You can now pose in your mermaid tail or any other outfit on one of Phuket’s dream beaches. Our team will be happy to help you with posing. In the evening we drive to the weekend market in Phuket Town. Here you can shop cheaply and also get to experience some typical Thai food.
Day 3 (Monday):
Today we take a boat tour to one of the surrounding islands. During the approximately 2-hour crossing on the catamaran, Mermaid Kat will give you helpful tips for modeling under water. We spend the day doing underwater shoots in shallow water. You can also explore the underwater world while snorkeling or let the sun tickle you on the beach.
Day 4 (Tuesday):
After spending yesterday with a boat tour, we use today for more training sessions and photo shoots on a beach. Then we drive to the famous “Patong Beach” and end the eventful day with a visit to cafes or bars.
Day 5 (Wednesday):
Since we spent the evening before in Patong, today is a very relaxed start. In the morning there is a small practice round to improve breathing and lengthening of breath holding. After that we drive to a beach for another photo shoot and a dip into the sea.
Day 6 (Thursday):
Today we take another boat tour to one of the surrounding islands. We will do underwater shootings again and you can continue to enjoy the crystal clear water while swimming and snorkeling.
Day 7 (Friday):
As the crowning glory of this mermaid camp, we’re going to another beach today. Here not only the last photo shoot is on the program, but you can really enjoy the holiday feeling here again. In the evening we invite you to a farewell dinner in Patang. Then it’s party time to celebrate the amazing adventures from the past days.
Day 8 (Saturday):
Those who came for the week-long Mermaid Week embark on their journey home today. On the other hand, those who have booked a second week as an extension can plan their day individually today and really enjoy their vacation in Thailand.
Days 9-14:
During these days you can organize your vacation as you like. Below in the “Frequently Asked Questions” we give you some tips for possible activities in the second week. Since the majority of our group usually stays both weeks, you will always find enough connection with all activities. We definitely won’t get bored :)
Who is this Mermaid Retreat for?
Basically everyone is welcome in our mermaid retreat who has a passion for the underwater world and wants to gain new experiences. We want to create a place here where like-minded water lovers can meet and share, learn new things, have an unforgettable time and go home with stunning photos and videos. To take part in this retreat for mermaids and mermen you must be able to swim well and confidently. In addition, we recommend general basic fitness, because swimming in the sea can be exhausting. No freediving, scuba diving, mermaid swimming, or underwater modeling experience is required. Whether you’re a beginner or a pro, our mermaid and merman holiday trip caters to everyone. Depending on your personal level, we offer you as much or as little support as necessary and desired.
Because we firmly believe that mermaids and mermen come in all sizes, shapes, colours, ages and genders, there is no visual criteria to meet. However, participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a legal guardian.
Mermaid Photography and Underwater Shoots
We know that many mermaids and mermen are constantly looking to enhance their portfolio. For this reason, we will offer plenty of photo shoot opportunities throughout our retreat for mermaids and mermen in Thailand. Accordingly, we work with renowned underwater photographers such as Ian Gray and Konstantin Killer. They will be photographing the retreat, so you’ll be sure to take home plenty evidence of your tropical mermaid transformation! There will be plenty of opportunity to take mermaid photos above and underwater. On the other hand, you also have the option to bring costumes and dresses to extend your photo portfolio. In Addition, you have the option to add on some special video packages to pimp up your show real (see packages below).
When and where is the next Mermaid Portfolio Vacation in Thailand?
Our next mermaid retreat in Thailand will take place from 11th-25th March 2023 in Phuket. Mermaid Week takes place from 11th-18th March but most people will stay for an extra week. During the second week there are no activities inclusive, but you are able to book trips for little money. Otherwise you can enjoy your time at the resort or beach. Don’t worry about being alone during the second week. In the past, the majority of guests stayed for the second week. By now we will have grown together as a “little family” and most likely plan more activities and adventures together.
What’s included?
The price of the ticket includes all mermaid activities, photoshoots, hotel, transportation and some meals. Below you can find a list of everything that’s included in the price.
- Round trip transportation from Phuket airport to the resort and back
- 7 (or 14, depending on the package) nights at the Palm Garden Resort (double room occupancy)
- Breakfast (including juices, coffee and tea) and lunch during Mermaid Week and a farewell dinner including 2 soft drinks and an alcoholic beverage.
- Two boat trips to special dive sites

What is not included in this Mermaid Portfolio Vacation?
- Airfare
- Dinners (other than the farewell dinner)

- The use of silicone tails (silicone tails from Mermaid Kat Shop can be hired at USD 280 per week plus shipping costs to you if required, this must be advised to us prior to travel)
- Additional photos (if you want to select more than 10, these can be purchased for USD 50 per photo)
- Single videos (you can choose from different video packages for an additional fee, see below)
How much does the Mermaid Portfolio Vacation in Thailand cost?
The cost of the 7-day mermaid trip to Thailand (March 11-18, 2023) is USD 2,399 per person. You can choose to extend your stay at the Palm Garden Resort by another week. In this case, the cost for the 14-day trip (March 11-25, 2023) is USD 2,850 per person. However, there are no activities included in the second week. Accordingly, you can organize the week as you wish. Our team will certainly plan other activities this week. If you are interested, you are welcome to participate in these activities at an additional cost.
To secure your place we require a deposit of USD 500 per person. The outstanding balance is due by January 31, 2023.

Frequently asked Questions:
Can my partner come to the Mermaid Portfolio Vacation?
Of course, partners are very welcome at Mermaid Week Thailand. He/ she can either participate in all of our activities or simply join those that interests him/ her. If your partner is not interested in photo shoots, he/she can still join us for the beach trips and boat rides. While we are shooting, he/she can go swimming or snorkeling, for example. Furthermore, both the dive center and the surrounding area have other activities to offer.
Certainly, partners also have the opportunity to select 10 photos from the trip. However, they can also assign these to the participating partner.
Another option would be, having your partner arrive for the second week. So you can concentrate fully on the activities offered during Mermaid Week and plan the second week together as you would like it to be.
What activities can I do in the second week?
You can get to know the Thai culture and, for example, visit the temple “Wat Chalong” and also the “Big Buddha”. The Flying Hanuman, on the other hand, has the full adventure program. In this high ropes course you can not only climb through the jungle, but also fly through the area with the zipline. Ma Doo Bua is a café with the WOW factor. Here you are surrounded by huge lotus leaves and you can get very special photos of yourself for an additional charge of around USD 20. Of course, there is also the possibility to book day trips. For example, you can visit the famous “James Bond Island” or Phi Phi Island, which was made famous by the film “The Beach”. In addition, you can also use the second week to complete a diving license or, if you already have one, to go diving. It is also possible to book additional photo and video shootings for an additional charge.
Can I have my picture taken without a mermaid tail?
Of course you can also have your picture taken in other outfits. Especially long dresses look beautiful under water. However, you can also bring costumes and slip into your favorite character during the shooting. Mermaid Kat can give you helpful underwater posing tips for any outfit.
Do I need travel insurance?
We strongly recommend that you take out insurance for this retreat for mermaids and mermen. Please note that you will also need to sign a Liability Release before you can participate in our activities.
